Smart Africa Selects Hitachi Systems Trusted Cyber Management to Manage Growing Cyber-Threats in West Africa

Hitachi Systems TCM and Smart Africa Secretariat establish a bilateral task force to develop a cybersecurity blueprint to bolster, protect, and defend Africa’s cyberspace

California, USA --- December 16th, 2022 --- The Smart Africa Secretariat (Secretariat) and Hitachi Systems Trusted Cyber Management Inc. (Hitachi Systems TCM) have announced a partnership which will provide leading edge people, processes and technologies to support the cyber-defense of Africa’s digital transformation. The benefit of the partnership to clients is to facilitate the African Continental Free Trade Area and the Digital Single Market to promote and secure the digital transformation throughout West Africa.

The Secretariat has identified an interest in participating with Hitachi Systems TCM in activities focused on supporting the development of:

  • The Smart Africa Cybersecurity Project
  • The Africa Cyber Security Innovation Centers (ACSIC)

As part of the Smart Africa agenda the Secretariat has defined private initiatives and investments in the technology and communications sectors of the Smart Africa Alliance Platform. Further, the Secretariat and Hitachi Systems TCM, will provide cybersecurity services and privacy solutions across a variety of industries and specifically focused on information, communication, and technology enhancements. 

Hitachi Systems TCM and Smart Africa will engage in activities including:

  • Designing, building, and deploying SOC’s (security operation centers), CERTs (Computer Emergency Response Team) and CIRTs (Cyber Incident Response Team) to identify, detect and respond to cyber incidents
  • Defining, developing, and promoting cybersecurity frameworks
  • Designing, building, and deploying threat intelligence and cybercriminal intelligence capacities
  • Providing cybersecurity courses and trainings
  • Providing hands-on training, linking theory with practice through internships and mentorships 
  • Equipping the Africa Cybersecurity Innovation Centers (ACIC) in Côte d’Ivoire
